Open fire restaurant
in the heart of Santa Claus Village
A restaurant full of Lappish tastes
Cooking salmon on an open fire is a tradition that has a long history in Lapland. At the same location where our restaurant stands there has been open fire salmon hut almost 50 years.
Visiting our restaurant is not just about filling up your belly. It is an experience that you can feel with all of your senses by watching the salmon being cooked on the fire in the middle of the hut, right in front of you.
Special flavours
from the Arctic nature
The basic idea behind our menu is to give you an opportunity to taste something that you may not have tasted before. Our recipes and drinks contain variable selection of wild herbs and berries from Finnish Lapland that we have carefully chosen.
Every meal and drink on our menu is a part of our food culture which is directly linked to Lappish nature and based on the ingredients that people here have been able to collect from the surrounding nature. Picking berries and mushrooms, growing vegetables, fishing on the lakes and rivers and hunting game meat are important aspects of our food culture.
The tradition of cooking on an open fire is still very much alive among locals here in Finland. After wandering in the woods and collecting berries people get together around an open fire and cook food for themselves.
